Time Killer Checklist: Are You Suffering From Them?

I bet you’re frustrated over never having enough time to get everything done in the day. There are only a fixed number of hours in the day, and no matter how hard we wish for it that will never change.
Unfortunately, most people find they have too little time to get everything done because they have several time killers in their life - things that take up much more time than they should. Here are 5 common time killers, as well as tips on how you can avoid them.
Poor Equipment
Have you ever had to wait for your computer to start up, or a file you need to open, or even a photocopier to make the copies you need? Perhaps your computer is even crashing constantly, forcing you to restart several times a day.
Often these problems come about from buying the cheapest option, or not maintaining the equipment properly. It’s a false economy to do either - the few dollars you save is vastly outweighed by the cost of the time you lose. Fix or replace any such equipment as soon as possible.
Telephone Calls
The telephone is a two-edged sword. When used correctly, it can be a great time saver. But at times it can be another time killer.
Always know exactly what you are going to say before you call someone. Quickly identify yourself, and once you are talking to the right person cover what you need to and hang up. No casual chatting!
If you are receiving calls, and/or have a mobile, decide on fixed times when you will and won’t answer the phone. For a normal phone you can screen your calls. For a mobile, simply turn it off and let the calls go through to voicemail. Then pick a later time to go through all the messages, and only answer the ones that are important.
People who won’t stop talking
We’ve all met them - they love the sound of their own voice, and just won’t stop talking. Unfortunately, saying you have to go rarely works. Your best bet is to avoid them where you can. If you receive calls from them, screen your calls (perhaps using caller ID) so you don’t have to talk directly to them.
Traffic jams
Everyone living in the city has run into traffic jams at some time or another. While there isn’t any way to get through a traffic jam any faster, you do have a few options.
Consider leaving earlier (or later), to avoid the traffic. If that’s not possible, investigate public transport options like the subway. Finally, see if there is something else you can do in the car at the same time - perhaps listen to a training CD, or get a lift with someone else and do your work while they deal with the traffic!
Meetings
Meetings can be huge time killers, especially if there is no clear agenda for the meeting. If possible, avoid going to meetings that you don’t have to attend. If you can’t escape a meeting, encourage the use of a fixed agenda so everyone knows what should be covered. This allows people to (hopefully) gather their thoughts ahead of time, and will limit off-topic conversation.

Here are some ideas for coping with stress:
1. Understand more about stress &ndash this involves recognising your sources of stress and how stress affects you personally. Plan for stressful periods.

It is important to identify and practice using coping tools if you want to be able to deal with your stress successfully. Obviously, it is not always possible to plan for stress as situations can happen that we do not expect. If you find yourself experiencing a period of crises, or intense painful emotions there are still coping strategies that you can employ in that moment.
Ideas For Coping with Acute Emotional Distress
1. Use of distraction &ndash the aim of this is to limit the time you spend in contact with the emotional stimuli, the things that are causing you to feel emotional. The stimuli could be anything from another person to the thoughts that you are having. Distraction involves doing something else to absorb your attention.
2. Imagery &ndash think of safe and soothing images. This involves imagining images that make you feel good, it may be a favourite place, person, pet or scenes from nature.
3. Relaxation &ndash learn a simple technique like using peripheral vision to induce relaxation. Peripheral vision is effective at switching on the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the part of the nervous system responsible for making us feel calm. It’s not possible to feel anxious or distressed whilst fully relaxed in peripheral vision.
4. One thing in the moment &ndash as adults we tend to spend much of our time stuck contemplating what went wrong in the past or what may go wrong in the future. Try and just focus on the ‘moment’. Perhaps this may involve thinking something like ‘I’m in my house in my favourite chair, I’m warm and comfortable and I have a good book to read’.
5. Exercise &ndash physical activity can help to disperse the chemicals released in your body by the stress response. It also releases feel good chemicals known as endorphins.
6. Sooth yourself - do something to nurture your 5 senses. Be kind and gentle to yourself.

Your Life Is What You Make Of It

This article describes how your life is what you make of it. If you are willing to work hard to reach your ambitions and goals, there is no reason why should not attain them. In my opinion far too many people try to take short cuts or are too willing to expect free hand outs from other people or have the credit card attitude of buy now, pay later. I hope you enjoy the read.
One of my best friends whose name is Chris turned seventeen around a month before I did. For his birthday his father bought him a very nice and sporty looking car. Chris was very pleased and showed his new present to all his mates including myself. He was unable to take us out for a spin as he had yet to learn to drive. I thought what a great gift it had been and returned home to tell my parents.
I now had it in my head, that I also wanted a car for my birthday. Chris only lived a few doors away from my house and my parents looked out of the window to view his new car. I stated to them that I would love a car for my seventeenth and my parents started to laugh and replied with, I bet you would.
Despite this negative comment, I really believed they were only joking and was convinced that they would not let me down. My birthday arrived and I opened all of their gifts. The main present they had bought me was a pair of trainers. I have to admit they were a quality pair of trainers, however I wondered where they had hidden the car. The car was not hidden, it had not been bought.
An ungrateful young man went to bed, not best pleased. I then started to take driving lessons and on the second attempt managed to pass the driving test. I came home to inform my parents of the good news. My dad congratulated me and seemed proud of my achievement. I stated that I was also very happy, however in reality, what was the point if I had no car to drive. My father did not reply to this comment.
A couple of months later my eighteenth birthday was now approaching. My father told me that because this was quite a big birthday, he was planning to spend a bit more money on my presents this year. He asked me if I had any idea of what I would like. For the second year in a row, I replied that I would love a car. Yet again he laughed and stated that he had said a bit more, not hundreds.
I really believed that because it was in his words, a big birthday, and because I was now legally able to drive, that he would buy me a car. Guess what, he didn’t. Yet again I was not impressed.
I waited a couple of months and then tried the head on approach. I spoke to my parents and told them that I needed a car, they agreed. My dad stated that if I wanted a car, I should go and buy one. I replied that I had no money, and he stated that I should start to save up then.
I started to save and had to sacrifice many things. Eventually I bought a car. It was not exactly sporty but it was my pride and joy. I washed the car every weekend and am sure that I loved it ten times more than Chris loved his car, because I had earned it.
Whenever I want to achieve something in life, I am aware that I have to work very hard and am very grateful to the lesson my parents taught me, even though at the time it seemed harsh and cruel.

Unreasonable Requests

It is probably the number two task of leadership — asking. You ask people to do things, and when they do — well, stuff happens.
But what really extends your ability to make big things happen is asking for things that are “unreasonable.”
What is unreasonable? Asking people for things you have no right to expect from them, which under ordinary circumstances, you would expect them to say, “no.” But asking anyway.
The trick is to expect them to say yes, and not worry about whether they do or they don’t.
Create a game in your business. The game is for everyone to continually be unreasonable in what they ask of each other. And not just internally — externally as well. Include all your stakeholders in this game. (You choose whether or not to tell them about it the game.) Do you think this game could rocket your project forward?
If making requests is not a normal activity for most people in businesses, unreasonable requests are doubly abnormal. Most of us don’t want to risk rejection — so we ask for small things, easy things, wimpy things, and make it easy for people to say yes.
Keeping your requests small is a good strategy if you are no-o-phobic, but it limits your results.
The action in your business is moved forward in direct proportion to the size of your requests, so to move things along quickly, you have to ask big.
Think of what changes would make your requests unreasonable. Whatever you were going to ask for, ask for more. Whenever you wanted it, ask for it sooner. Whatever you were willing to pay or trade, ask for it for less, or free. You get the idea.
Make your requests larger. Bigger. Faster. Cheaper. Outrageouser.
Make them unreasonable.

Today we live in a time where a great transformation is happening upon the Earth. Up until now this transformation has been largely invisible, except to those who could perceive other dimensions of reality. The Fear Of Stuttering

I am someone, who from what my parents have told me, started to stutter when I was four years of age. I have to say that I hated having a stuttering problem and was determined that I eventually would be able to have the confidence to say whichever words that I wanted to, in any situation. There were you see a number of words which I believed I just could not say and I also found it difficult to talk when I felt under pressure. After living with the stutter for eighteen years, I finally managed to achieve fluency and life has never been so good. It is like having a weight lifted from my shoulders.
Many people who stutter find that it can, in a way, rule their whole lives. Every decision they take seems to be affected by the speech impediment. For example, I decided to leave school because of my own stutter. My life at school was made so much harder by being unable to converse fluently. In fact I used to fear going to school, this was mainly because I was scared that I would be asked to read out aloud from a book or would be asked a question in front of the whole class. I will never forget when I attempted to take part in a role play in an English lesson, I was a complete nervous wreck and had a terrible time.
When I was at home, a place where I should be relaxed, I used to be afraid of the telephone of all things. Fluent people may well think that I am crazy from some of the things that I am admitting to in this article. On the other hand, I am sure other people who have a stutter may identify with some of the issues that I was trying to deal with on a daily basis. Going back to the telephone, there were many times when the phone would start to ring and I would just ignore it and not answer it. My parents would return home a little while later and would see that someone has perhaps left a message. They would enquire as to why I had not answered the call, I would reply with some excuse such as that I had popped out to the shops.
As you can see I basically had a fear of stuttering and during this period I would do anything to avoid stuttering. To overcome the speech impediment I was willing to do anything to beat it.

What is Time Management?

Because each of us is unique and different, we have to find out what works best for us in our own ways. This path to this starts with the basics in our own time management. Basic time management is setting up goals and plans that are reachable.
When setting goals for ourselves we should ask…”Is this goal reachable? Can I achieve this goal? What do I do to make this goal successful? Asking yourself the right questions is one basic element of developing a time management routine that works for you. Another basic element in time management is asking for help. That is a plan that helps to lead you to success.
We can’t know everything, or do everything, so sometimes you have to ask for help. When you are asking questions, you are letting others know that you are seeking a solution to a problem, or attempting to reach a goal that you have set. By asking yourself and other questions, you are relying on your own fortitude, and trusting others.
In time management, the best way to get something done is by keeping it simple. Simple means to put a plan in motion that will work smoothly and effectively that will allow you to reach the goal you have set.
When setting goals, you should scrutinize carefully which strategies might work most effectively to reach that goal. You will want a plan that is logical and uncomplicated, but that takes into account that there might be setbacks along the way. Since no plan is perfect, keep in mind when you are creating a plan for time management that things could go wrong, so that you are not thrown off when there is a crisis.
Life is too short to waste time on not getting the job done, and time is money. Learning how to manage your time effectively will help you to reach all of your goals. Everything is at the mercy of time. There is no getting around it. Learning how to manage what we can control is the best way to achieve goals with less stress.

Strength does not lie in licking a woman’s breast; even a stray dog can do that. Strength is always the power of a beautiful thought not the domination of the muscle. The strength of a muscle can break a dozen bones but it cannot travel beyond a certain distance. A glorious thought however can travel leap years ahead, beyond continents and beyond the realm of time and space. It can deliver messages at lightening speed and can rebuild a million lives and bring smile to humanity. It is that powerful.
Attention to a caring or authentic thought is what is love .Every other thing is a stray dogs meal.
So what are the qualities of a great relationship?
The first and foremost is to FEEL DAMN GOOD ! If you don’t feel good reading this email, if you don’t feel good talking to someone, if you don’t feel good when someone walks into your house then there is a good chance that you really do not care about the relationship too much….
So feeling good is the highest attribute of a great relationship. Everything else is secondary. You have to learn the ability to fall in love with your thoughts…And then love in all forms be it money, relationships or health will come knocking at your doors. You can sitting in a remote corner of the world send out a wonderful and caring thought and the person at the other end can immediately feel damn good…. Thoughts are way too powerful it is just that you have not experienced its power, its strength.
John once told me that that poverty is a state of mind being broke is only a passing phase. You don’t have to regret being broke He had experienced the downside of life…
Hatred and animosity towards your partner is a state of mind facing big time problems in your relationships is a passing phase. You can turn the tables around very quickly…
Feeling low and weak is a state of mind , current health problems is only a passing phase.
You should not mistake the current circumstances to be your destiny. They are only a passing phase what is permanent is your thoughts, your state of mind. That is where you have to begin the work. If you pay too much attention to the current events surrounding you then you become a play tool of circumstances and events . You got to learn the fine art of holding on to fewer thoughts, of breaking focus of your day to day problems and caring about your thoughts….

My mails reach the recipients heart faster than the Fedex guys…I am pretty serious with what I do. John would seem casual on occasions but he has a mighty heart, a reservoir of spiritual energy and so he can afford to play with certain things. Not you and me…
The moment of truth has arrived….
Problem is the obstacle and Problem is the key. For Problems according to ancient scriptures is the guardian of knowledge. The supreme obstacle is the supreme door.
You can chose with all your might to overcome problems and knock it down and even if you are successful you will find that a new wall has already been formed behind the existing one. It is a never ending game a totally futile action a, complete waste of energy. Would you like to continue doing this or would you like to open the secret door to experiencing true love , because love is money, love is relationships and love is great health… It is a piece of cake as clear as the blue sky you can see it with both eyes all you need is insight, a spark of curiosity , a collision with feeling if you will….
